Title: Why are paper bag better than plastic bag?
Post by: andre21 on May 11, 2013, 04:56:32 pm
Most grocery paper bag will hold more items and weight than most grocery plastic bag. At the onset, use of China paper bag (http://www.perfectpaperbags.com)  reduces the total number of bag used. Paper bag aren't as great for carrying lunch on a rainy day however.

Many people re-use paper bag in their paper recycling processes. It certainly makes sense to "completely use" (or reuse) an item rather than purchasing special use products like paper bag simply to contain recyclables. - Better to reuse and already used bag.

Some folks talk of paper bag decomposing faster than plastic bag and a desire for decomposable plastic bag.....I think that a stronger and more accurate argument for paper over any type of plastic bag lies within the components that make paper versus those that make plastic. In general, paper that is not coated with plastic, metal, or other components is comprised of far less chemically toxic substances than the components that comprise plastics. Not only are the components of paper less toxic than the components of plastic, but when they decompose, are eaten by worms, soil critters, soil microbes, and more, even the results remain less toxic than those of similarly processed, decomposable plastic bag. The chemical components of paper bag are much closer to the natural food chain of de-composers than the components of plastics.

In fact there a number of questions about apparently decomposing plastics of varyying types in the environment. One is are they actually decomposing or, are they simply breaking sown into smaller components. When plastics break down into smaller components, do they do so intact or, are there chemical changes that go with? If there are chemical changes, what chemicals are consumed and which simply hang around as smaller particles? When the peices of different types of plastics are eaten by criters from mamals to microbes and plankton, do they pass in tact chemically? If not, what are the chemical effects on the plastics themselves and what are the effects on those critters that ate the plastics? Below is a link to an article on one such study.

Another aspect to explore when considering paper or plastic is the environmental impact in initial, respective manufacture. Lastly, there are the comparative environmental impacts of recycling paper bag versus plastic bag. My bias is that plastic bag are chemically more complex and as such they generate more of an environmental impact both during intitial manufacture and recycling re-manufacture.

I suggest a re-usable, sturdy, white or natural colored, cotton, canvas bag for shopping. These types of bag can truly reduce both your garbage/landfill and your recycling waste streams. They can be easily washed or bleached. And, you can readily see when they have been soiled by something like blood leaking from a package of meat that could cause food borne illness. When the cotton canvas bag iself is no longer usable, it is much more capable of being re-used or recycled than a similar, re-usable synthetic or plastic bag.

If anyone seeking for environment China paper bag or paper bag manufacturer (http://www.perfectpaperbags.com) then i would suggest to have a look at this website http://www.perfectpaperbags.com
