Hey dudes

Maxfragg sucks and so I switched to the vastly superior commandchannel.

Connect to it at

PORT:    7128
PW:       bestpony

I am the only admin right now, I still need names for the access list. So if one of you could hook me up with that, it'd be swell.

You're a man after my own heart. I like my UI to be as cluttered as possible. I sometimes have empty chat windows that do nothing, just so I can have screenspace taken up.

Nah, I keep telling you my moustache doesn't connect. Kind of embarrassing really.

If you are interested in joining Team Loyalty for raid on Sunday, December 18th 2011 please respond to this thread with the name and armory link of the character you will be attending with.

Raiding will not resume until either Team Loyalty or the Royal Guard are finalized.

[edit: Armory only remembers the gear set that you last logged OFF while wearing.

Some ponies are being left out in the cold on raid days. Other ponies are frustrated at the lack of progress and the need to constantly re-explain fights. To solve both problems, I feel it's necessary to establish a permanent, progression oriented raid team while also leaving room for our casual ponies and people who need raid experience and gear before facing progression content.

For this reason, I am creating two separate raid teams with separate sets of rules.

Team Loyalty will be our regular Thursday progression raid team consisting of ten members who will be expected to attend every week. Team Loyalty may optionally continue their Thursday raid on Sunday. Applicants will be subject to the following rules:

  • Team members will be required to attend every Thursday raid. If a member cannot attend for some reason, they must notify guild leadership as soon as possible but no less than an hour in advance. Absent team members will be replaced by any available raider. Chronic absence will result in loss of membership.

  • Team members will be required to maintain a minimum gear level. The precise requirements depend on available content. A general rule of thumb is that you will be expected to have a full set of the best gear possible apart from current raid progression content. Bastiat in his DPS kit is a perfect example of someone who has done the absolute bare minimum to qualify for team raiding. I am outfitted in top level 5-man gear with a handful of good token pieces. You can take a character from quest greens to this state in maybe three or four weeks of casual play. Except in extremely rare circumstances, PVP gear does not qualify.

  • Team members must have every socket gemmed, every enchantable piece enchanted, and gear reforged appropriately. Again, the armory is a handy tool. In advanced mode it will highlight slots that can be improved with a red (!) sign. Hover over the dot and it will explain how you can improve.

  • Members must be able to perform competitively in a raid scenario. The Pony Way is not to harp on mistakes, but members who exhibit ongoing performance issues with no improvement plan will be encouraged in a non-voluntary manner to practice their skills in the Royal Guard team.

  • Members will NOT be required to learn how to perform more than one raid role... but it is very strongly recommended simply to avoid frequent cancellations due to unavoidable absences.

Team Loyalty will have expanded access to the guild bank, a bigger budget for repairs, and priority access to guild materials for progression related gear enhancements and consumables. Teams and RG members alike will use the same DKP database when running progression content.

If more than ten raiders qualify for Team Loyalty, applicants will be evaluated based first on raid composition, second on current gear level and general affability. The remaining may help the Royal Guard with progression, or if there is sufficient interest we may attempt to form a second team, Team Honesty.

If fewer than ten people qualify for Team Loyalty, I will disband the guild and you can all go straight to Pony Hell.

The Royal Guard will be our regular Sunday raid comprised of casual raiders, new raiders, alts, and any clever ponies who happen to wander into the instance on the way to the kitchen.

There are no strict rules for raiding with the Royal Guard, but as always you will be expected to respect your fellow pony by bringing your A-game, gearing appropriately, and performing as well as you possibly can. The Royal Guard will run the most advanced content that it is able to, including Raid Finder raids if possible. The major difference is that the Royal Guard will run with whatever ponies happen to be available, with out any particular member list.

The object of the Royal Guard will be to cook up Team raiders and to provide fun and games for casual raiders who are not interested in Team level raiding.

If a raid team chooses to extend its raid to Sunday and is facing cancellation, the raid team may fill slots out of the Royal Guard raid.

The MLPDS database represents your Demon Soul DKP and will be use for DS loot going forward.

The MLP1 database will still be used for firelands gear.

Para is right, his reasons are valid and I encourage everypony who feels the same to follow suit and seek other guilds.

I have been in a top 100 worldwide raiding guild in the past. I was in Talisman when they were eleventh worldwide to earn Alone In The Dark during wrath. It takes a certain, strict set of habits and attitudes in order to be a cutting edge raiding guild. Main character and spec assignment, strict raid team balance and gear requirements, stricter attendance, class and role min-maxing, none of them sound that big a deal alone but it adds up to an entirely different approach to raiding.

We are not that sort of guild.

Not all that many players want that sort of experience. Elite raiding guilds need to recruit heavily in order to limn out the serious raiders. Because we do not recruit from the gen pop at all, we can never be an elite raiding guild without completely changing our mission.

We are going to be a marginal raiding guild. We will never be top 200, or even 2000. We will probably never run heroic raids before Bliz patches all the challenge out. We will probably have to work a great deal before we make any headway into new content.

We should not expect anypony who wants to play differently to hang around.

Send a tell to any guild member and they'll point you to someone with invite powers.

If I'm not online when you're invited, be sure to send a tell to Bastiat or Friedman or Xiaoping and let me know that you're a new pony!

I wouldn't mind.
Although the thought of 25 people on mumble already makes my head hurt.

I have considered breaking the raid down by role, so that healers can all hear each other and dps can all hear each other but everypony can hear the raid leader. Or if not by role then by some other, more compact form of grouping.

Mumble is awesome like that.
15  Guild Business and Discussion / Guild News and Announcements / Codex ad Astra Equus - Official Guild Rules on: October 03, 2011, 07:00:53 pm

1) Friendship is Magic, and We are Wizards.
We are a pony guild first and a raid guild second. What sets our guild apart is more than a cartoon, it's also our dedication to our members. Ponies spend their time how they like, create what characters they like and spec them how they choose. Veteran ponies are encouraged to spend time training or helping new ponies wherever possible. If you prefer a more strict, progression oriented guild structure, may you go with Celestias blessing; find an uberguild and show them what a pony can do.

2) Follow The Applebuck Rule.
All ponies will ask for and accept help if they need it. If you're sitting around dreaming of a better sword, ask a crafter what is available and find the mats for them if you can. You may get an upgrade and the crafter will feel useful and appreciated. If you're getting bored slugging out quests, ask if anyone higher level is free for a dungeon tour. The quicker you achieve your goals, the faster the guild achieves its goals, and the more fun everypony gets to have. Conversely, a pony in need is a friend indeed. You should be excited to help out the colts and fillies when they need it (refer to rule 1).

3) Respect Your Fellow Pony.
We're a fairly wacky bunch, so guildchat and mumble can get pretty wild and there are no hard and fast rules, but always remember to have respect for your guildmates and pride in your guild. Avoid show spoilers, class balance bragging or complaining, or exceedingly gross or uncomfortable topics that generally annoy everypony. In public, don't denigrate people, even if they deserve it. We are ambassadors not only of our little group but of the Ponyverse at large. Prove to the world that we deserve the mantle of acceptance and benevolence that we have assumed. It is our foremost weapon.

4) Resolve Conflicts.
If somepony is annoying you or doing something wrong, the best way to resolve the issue is by approaching them politely and explaining the issue. Odds are they did not even realize they were bugging you. If someone is behaving in a way that you feel warrants action on the part of guild leadership, explain the situation to one officer one time. Rest assured that they will discuss it with the entire leadership. They may decide to take action, or they may not. You won't be informed either way.

Bad ponies are sent to The Moon.

-Voice chat and a raid coordination assist mod are required for raiding. We use Mumble for voice chat. You may download it here or contact actor David Duchovny. Raid Coordination Assist mods are mods such as Deadly Boss Mods, Deus Vox, or BigWigs.

-No mumble chatter during raids, and no non-raiders in the mumble channel unless they are specifically there to observe the raid.

-The raid forms ten minutes before the scheduled start time. Attendance DKP will be distributed two minutes before the scheduled start time. Raiders who are not in mumble and ready to accept an invite at least two minutes ahead of the scheduled raid time will be considered late and will not receive attendance DKP.

-Flasks, food, gems, and item enhancements of every stripe are required and obtaining them is the raiders responsibility. Flasks and food are often provided through the guild bank, but need not be. Raiders who arrive unprepared risk benching without waitlist DKP, or DKP deductions. Being lazy when others are relying upon you is disrespectful of your fellow raider.

-Not everypony can raid every night. If you are benched, you are to remain online and available and follow the instructions of the raid leader in order to receive waitlist DKP. Switching to an alt is fine so long as the raid leader can contact you. Joining another party is fine so long as you are prepared to bail on it if the raid needs you. If you find yourself often benched due to poor raid performance, you are in luck! That situation is easy to resolve.

-DKP is awarded on a per-character basis. If you have a large amount of DKP on one character, and for reasons other than raid comp you would like to change your mane raiding character, you may request approval from an officer to transfer DKP to a new mane character. The DKP total for your OLD character will be set to zero. The DKP total for your NEW character will be set to one half of the DKP total from your old character. In other words, your DKP is halved and becomes the total for the new character. You cannot add the DKP totals of two different characters together. Mitigating circumstances exist for people who graciously choose to bring an alt to a raid for reasons of raid composition; these cases are handled by the raid leader.

"In that case you're going to PONY HELL for your wicked, horrid thoughts!" -Fluttershy (alleged)

Bad ponies are sent to The Moon. When on The Moon, your guild bank privileges are suspended and you may not use guild chat. You may not use the Mumble server. You may speak in, but not read officer chat.

Some examples of infractions that may land you on The Moon are:

-Actively poaching ponies for another guild
-Deliberately irritating other guild members
-Excessive class whining/bragging
-Attempting to bring about eternal night

This list is not comprehensive. Any officer may send anypony to The Moon for any amount of time. If you are sent to The Moon for any time period less than one thousand years, you may appeal your case to another officer or the guild leader. If your appeal is declined, you will wait out your time peacefully or face removal from the guild.
