1  Guild Business and Discussion / General Guild Discussion / Re: Raid Restructuring: In the grim, bright future, there is only friendship. on: December 17, 2011, 10:10:36 am
Good luck guys!

I'm not interested in hard core raiding again; been there, done that.
Might join the Royal Guards once in a while though...

(EDIT: rofl, hard core together as one word gets filtered)
2  Guild Business and Discussion / Dungeons and Raids / Re: An idea on: October 29, 2011, 01:08:35 pm
After the 1 piece (legs) I picked up this Thursday, i went and upgraded a few other older slots to Valor gear to fill out the rest. So there's a lot of items that would be just sidegrades (same iLvl, different stat allocations, some better, but generally not really worth it over anyone else that needs as upgrade).

.... honestly i can't remember which pieces anymore. :| But reforged the **** out of everything to try more mastery for blocking to avoid the crushing blows more, possibly. We'll see.
3  Guild Business and Discussion / Dungeons and Raids / Re: 25 Man Raiding for 4.3 on: October 17, 2011, 09:26:58 am
May as well take my Death Knight Illumineko off the list; I just don't make the time to play her anymore since I've already got a Tank/Melee. Don't think she's even geared to tank Parasprites yet.

Trying to get/grind FL dailies for my Paladin for a viable beginning healing set. That one parasprite ZG healing was rough, but then again the tank was in PvP S10 gear. Cheesy
4  Guild Business and Discussion / Dungeons and Raids / Re: Lord Ryolith?!?! on: October 04, 2011, 04:51:45 pm
Couple of notes myself... scrounged from WowHead/comments/other sources...

In summary, yes it sounds like a very rough/luck/driving/stayingoutofOMGLAVALAVALAVABURNS fight.

Sounds like the two big keys are driving Rhyo over active volcanos ASAP, and avoiding the Lava streams.
Below are some of the key comments I noticed hunting around WowHead, didn't find much else interesting from other sources though that we hadn't already covered yet...

"Volcano – Lord Rhyolith ignites a Volcano, causing it to inflict 12000 Fire damage to 3 players every 2 sec. When struck, the player takes 5% additional Fire damage for 15 sec. This effect stacks up to 20 times."

"When "driving" Rhyolith, we found it greatly helps out the healers if the melee steers him to the erupting volcanoes asap. To facilitate this, we placed raid markers on four sides of the island so we could call which icon the erupting volcano was near since it can be difficult for melee to see them while avoiding other damage and trying to steer at the same time."

"Worst designed heroic fight by far, this boss is completely goverened by how well RNG praises your guild."
"I agree even on normal mode RNG has alot to do with it..We oneshotted him last week because active volcanoes spawned right in the path we were already taking and now this week they spawn directly opposite of the one we're going after...very lame"

"Our 10 man normal raid found this fight remarkably easier when we drove Rhyolith over every volcano we could steer him towards, Active or Dormant. Cratering the dormant volcanoes helped in two ways:
1) It reduced the number of possible volcanoes Rhyolith could activate, so we never had multiple separate active volcanoes (and their eruption debuffs) up simultaneously.
2) It greatly reduced the clutter on screen and improved visibility.
The downside to this is more craters result in more Magma Flows, but the improved visibility meant they were easier to spot and dodge, and the lack of eruption stacks meant if they did hit they didn't 1-shot us."

I know nothing what to say.
Wut.

Even with Powerpoint Poisoning running rampant at work, i have never seen so many charts.

But the sheer amount of information there is awesome.

FYI - This was actually posted in last night's "Nightly Roundup" on Equestria Daily.

How's that really any different from what we have here? I prefer plain message boards like this to a _chan style myself for anything more than image-dumps honestly.

But really, the problem we have here isn't the board itself - it's an utter lack of participation.

I haven't played Feral Bear since back in BC/LK heroic days, so I can't give too much in the way of advice.....
But there's one place that always gives more advice than you ever thought possible to understand. Elitist Jerks.

The name is pretty explanatory, and they focus on high-end raiding strategy, number crunching and Mix/Max to a mind-blowing degree. But they're also one of the better sources for anything related to a specific class/talent spec.

Take what they have written as just advice, not as a "you must do this". A lot of things they have are very too over-the-top, to be followed only if End-Game-Raiding is your Life, Heart, Soul and Only Reason For Living.  Grin  (although, that is what some high-end guilds have enforced in the past).

But all things said, for the most part they know their stuff. I wouldn't dare try to ask a question of them myself though lol - just treat it as a reference.
Just bear in mind it's all focused on END-GAME, so there's some that doesn't apply as well towards leveling range and even for 85 Normal/Heroic level dungeons in some cases.

10  General Category / General / MLP FiM Ponies as WoW Classes? on: August 14, 2011, 11:29:07 am
Something I've thought about for a while, even before I saw the "World of PonyCraft" fanfic:
If the FiM cast were to become character classes in WoW, what class/spec would they be?
I'm curious to see what others come up with..... some are fairly easy/obvious, but any that aren't let's list our thoughts on why they would pick those class(es).

Fluttershy: Druid (Restoration / Feral)
This one's pretty easy, as much as Fluttershy likes nature & animals, Druid seems like a no-brainer.
Feral offspec because, I can just imagine her frolicking around in a forest with animal friends.
(And because FlutterRage+Bear form is a frighteningly good match).

Applejack: Warrior (Protection / Huh)
I need to have Yahria draw Applejack in warrior battlegear someday. It just seems to fit with her as a heavy tank in my mind.
Out of the mane six, she seems the one most likely to stand firm between her friends and a raging behemoth.
Offspec would be either Arms or Fury, but let's face it - how often does a Tank take it easy and just tear things apart?

Rainbow Dash: Paladin (Retribution / Protection)
Dash being a bit brash, hot-headed and arrogant, it almost screams Retribution Paladin to me. Besides, glowing wings of light are 20% cooler than regular wings, right? For some reason, I can imagine Dash being very competitive in PvE and PvP. In most games, Paladins are the epitome of righteousness and holy might - Retribution Paladins are the ones that say "Yeah, but I can be Righteous and smash your face in at the same time, and look 20% cooler while doing it!"
Offspec as Protection, because I could see Dash getting begged to tank someday when Applejack's stuck working on the farm. I don't see it going so well though. Smiley

Rarity: (A) Hunter (Beastmaster)
(B) Priest (Holy/Discipline)
Ok, this one really gave me pause. The Priest side seems obvious, but.... I don't know. Priests end up getting beat on a lot, and I can't see Rarity taking that too well.
So that's where Hunter comes in. Being able to stay far away from combat, and have a pet to go in and get dirty in your place seems more Rarity-ish. Let's not forget Feign Death. 'nuff said?
I can also imagine her being a bit more interested in certain pets due to their color scheme. "Oh my aren't you just the cutest little Ravager! I love how your purples and reds just positively compliment my mane! Oh, but we simply must do something about those spines of yours, perhaps a beauty spa treatment and a few ribbons will do wonders!" ........
Would not use Guns due to noise/gunpowder.

Twilight: (A) Shaman (Elemental / Restoration)
(B) Mage (Arcane / Frost)
Another one that I'm torn between. Mage seems obvious yes, with the arcane magic and portals. But with the exception of Food and Portals, almost everything in a Mage's spellbook is purely destructive. So I'm sort of torn....
That's where Shaman comes into my thought. Still have the "magic as primary", but it covers a much wider range of versatility with Healing, and a wide variety of totem buffs. Twilight seems more of a jack-of-many-trades, focusing on magic, than a pure glass cannon. I can also see her as a raid healer, running calculations on most efficent HP/sec & HP/mana graphing.

Pinkie Pie: (A) Mage (constantly switching specs)
(B) Rogue (constantly switching specs)
I know, I know.... Pinkie Pie? Casting magic? Bouncing around a pack of monsters spamming Arcane Explosions? Cooking up delicious cakes & treats for her friends? ..... but, doesn't it kind of make sense in a screwy way? And that makes me think of The Pink One.
As for Rogue? It all revolves around 1 word: "..... SURPRISE!" [Sap/Ambush/Shadowstep]

Bonus Mode!
Celestia: Priestess (Holy/Discipline).
Do I have to explain this one? Smiley Healing, PW:Shield, and ..... when bored, Holy Fire + Smite. o.O;

( T r o l l )estia: (A) Death Knight (Unholy/Unholy).
(B) Priest: (Shadow/Holy)
(Had to space out the T word because "Parasprite"estia just doesn't have the same ring to it!)
Problem? Yes, dual Unholy spec just to smite people who dare inspect her.
Shadow Priest needs no explain; Holy spec just to toy with people in a dungeon and stop healing them whenever she so choose..... "Ooooops, sorry, laaaaag~"

Luna: Death Knight (Unholy/Blood)
This one hurts me a bit to admit (the divine goddess of the moon as a risen knight of death?Huh). But it's exactly that inner, unescapable darkness a DK has to live with that calls "Luna".
Unholy for solo, and eventually if befriended by the mane 6 (<3) Blood for tanking.

VinylScratch/Octavia/Lyra: Oh, if only there was a BARD class......

Big Macintosh: Prot Warrior or Prot Paladin. eYup.

Hiyo!

If you see Bastiat, Friedman, or Parasprite online on Arathor, they'd be the ones to talk to Smiley

That's my line!

Just thought I'd save you the trouble Smiley

.... because you have to have at least 1 post on the forum to be able to modify your forum profile.  Shocked

Game Name: Ariathiel (artistic mis-spelling of the name of an angel of the Sun)
Class: Paladin (the last class I haven't played at least to lvl 30...)

Brony Status: "Quiet Lurker". I did a bit of artwork in the first few days of Equestria Daily's artist Training Ground before giving up. Otherwise, lurker.
Favorite Pony: Hard to say, I have likes and dislikes to all of them; and it's hard to separate the characters as defined by Canon versus Fanon.
For Fanon, Luna - but maybe that's because some of the most beautiful artwork is of the Sisters Majesties
For Canon, probably Applejack or Twilight (close tie), with Rarity being a close 3rd just because she's so fun to quote/impersonate.

Not a lot to say about myself personally, odd sense of humor, main interest is video games & anime.

Previous WOW Experience: I've been playing off-and-on since Open Beta. I've been in several progression raiding guilds, and got tired of the "2nd job" raiding lifestyle after burning out in Burning Crusade.

Cleared progression raiding on other servers:
(vanilla): Molten Core, Blackwing Lair (guild broke due to drama partway into AQ40)
Burning Crusade: Black Temple, Serpent Shrine Cavern, Tempest Keep (<3 Kael fight) (guild gave up raiding after too many fails on 1st Sunwell boss)
Wrath of the Lich King: Retired from raiding, but came back for a short bit after being begged to help get Rusted Iron-Bound Proto Drake (<3 my Rusty)
Cataclysm: (no raiding, cleared most all 5-man heroics)
